“Tea and Trustees” morning at Grimsby Minster

As part of our National Trustees’ Week activities we’re offering local Charity Trustees the chance to come along to an informal social session at Grimsby Minster to talk to and (hopefully) learn from other Trustees.   Trustees often meet within their own charity, but have few opportunities to mull things over with Trustees from other charities.  Yet doing this can give someone support, reassurance, advice, inspiration and so on to help them in this important role.

So on Friday 14th November, come along to “Tea and Trustees” at the Grimsby Minster cafe to talk to other Trustees in an informal peer group setting.

Who should attend?

This drop in session is aimed at existing charity Trustees, but also other board members/committee members.
And perhaps when you come along you’ll have in your head some issues or experiences that you’d like to talk to others about?

If you’re not yet a Trustee but are thinking about it then please feel free to come along, but bear in mind that the session is not training, so you might find something else that we’re running in Trustees’ Week will prove more useful to you.

What will happen?

The session is an informal chat and is not training.  VANEL staff with Trustee or committee experience and an understanding of Governance techniques and resources will be on hand to answer questions and join in the conversations, but we hope that Trustees’ from all kinds of different local charities will attend and can talk to each other about their experiences, how they dealt with past situations, what they’ve learned and so on.

Several years ago, VANEL ran a successful ‘Trustee Network’ which included a lot of peer support between Trustees.  This was well received and we’re looking at how we might recreate this experience again.  So whatever your experiences as a Trustee, we’d like to have you attend “Tea and Trustees” for a chat!

There will be plenty of resources to hand as well which you can learn about.

See you there?

Practicalities

Friday 14th November 2014
9.30am-12noon
at Grimsby Minster – at the Cafe
No fee to attend, no need to book.  Just come for as long as you want.

This training session from VANEL is held as part of National Trustees’ Week 2014 which annually showcases the great work that trustees do and highlights opportunities for people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference.  During Trustees’ Week (10th-16th November) VANEL has 5 events planned over 5 days which should be of interest to anyone involved with the support or management of a local non-profit or charity.

This session has no fee to attend, but if you want a drink/refreshments you’ll need to buy it yourself from the Minster cafe.

Just turn up when you want and sit down for a chat with VANEL staff and whoever else is around.

Of course if you’d like to discuss this session further, please contact Karl Elliott at VANEL via 01472 235311 or preferably email karl@vanel.org.uk.
