Hi,
My name is Jan Rilatt and I have worked in the Voluntary Sector since 1997 as well as setting up as a freelance trainer and personal development coach in 2005. I am a ‘friend’ of VANEL as well as working in North Lincs for VANL.
In both roles, I find that increasingly I come across people wanting to address overcoming fear and anxiety either in their personal or professional life. People have fears or feel anxious about a huge amount of issues, including:
PERSONAL PROFESSIONAL
Not being good enough Changing career
Being alone Making presentations
Change Interviews
Making decisions Going for promotion
Getting older Failure etc, etc
Starting/ending a relationship
Making mistakes etc, etc.
I’m sure you can add your own to the list.
The bottom line, as Susan Jeffers says in her life changing book Feel the Fear & Do It Anyway®, is that we think we can’t handle it, we feel we are not good enough.
Now, I don’t have space here to go through all the tools she gives us, but I certainly credit her with the journey I started many years ago when I chose to make changes in my life. Note I say chose as it’s more beneficial to be a choice rather than a ‘should’. People have to really want to change, be committed to the process, learn different ways of thinking and most importantly, put them into practice. When I first read the book, for a while I carried on doing things in the same way and not surprisingly ended up with the same results!

Gradually I started to learn and practice techniques to be more positive, take more responsibility for my life and get out of my comfort zone among many other things.
