Grimsby and District Live at Home have just celebrated their 20th year in existence and alongside that they have achieved level 1 SVA.
Some would say after 20 years in the business that they probably know what they are doing by now. The organisation is run by members and a board of trustees. Those involved with the organisation have found the commitment to caring for their clients and volunteers to be remarkable. Many of their volunteers have been involved for the entire 20 years that the organisation has existed because they believe that alleviating older people’s isolation and encouraging independence is paramount to improving older people’s quality of life. The support for volunteers shines through by involving volunteers feedback at committee level and operational level. Volunteers feel valued. They are fully trained and supported by other team members as well as Ann Marie and Pat. Regular social events are organised for both the volunteers and members. Volunteers develop a social life as well as having a useful role to play and in effect belong to a small community of people who watch out for their welfare.
If anyone is interested in volunteering for the organisation and befriending an isolated or elderly person or helping out at the social events, please contact Kelly at the Volunteer Centre on 01472 231123 who will forward your details.
