{"id":21122,"date":"2019-07-24T10:12:06","date_gmt":"2019-07-24T09:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/?p=21122"},"modified":"2019-07-26T10:26:51","modified_gmt":"2019-07-26T09:26:51","slug":"capacity-buildings-secures-national-lottery-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/2019\/07\/capacity-buildings-secures-national-lottery-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Capacity Buildings secures National Lottery support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>VANEL Member organisation Capacity Buildings has just received a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of \u00a310,000 for an exciting heritage project named <strong>Community Housing Association Memorials<\/strong>.\u00a0 Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, the project focuses on the origins of alms houses in our local area and their impact on their residents and local communities.<\/p>\n<p>Supported through The National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project will enable local residents including nearby primary school pupils to discover the origins and explore the history of local alms houses, some of which were built to commemorate local heroes who fell in the First World War, and now benefit local people where those heroes lived.<\/p>\n<p>Capacity Buildings works with local communities to help them to learn and develop ideas through community research and various communication skills and they will include both young and older participants to get involved with this project. Working with heritage volunteers, project participants will gain a deeper insight into this previously under-researched part of their history, as well as teaching them valuable new skills to use in order to tell the story about local alms houses.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the award, the Directors said: <em>\u201cWe are extremely pleased to have received this award thanks to National Lottery players and are confident the project will support both young and older residents to be active citizens through learning about their local heritage.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-21122\" data-postid=\"21122\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-21122 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VANEL Member organisation Capacity Buildings has just received a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of \u00a310,000 for an exciting heritage project named Community Housing Association Memorials.
