The <\/span>Neighbourhood Watch Network<\/span><\/strong> is a fairly recent new VANEL Member and Glyn Atkinson is the person to contact if you want to find out anything about Neighbourhood Watch. There is a website at www.nelwatch.org.uk<\/span><\/a> and Glyn posts news and information on there regularly. There\u2019s plenty of warning about scams at the moment (share with your neighbours) and notice of meetings are posted there too. If you’re interested in starting a new group too, then get in touch. West Marsh Community Centre (WMCC)<\/span><\/strong> are once again running their Volunteer Awards for 2019 and nominations are now being accepted across many categories. The closing date is 20th September.<\/span> Winners will be announced and presented at an event on 19th October.<\/span> For more details, for the categories and to submit nominations please contact WMCC direct via 01472 269230 or email them<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also in West (and East) Marsh: <\/span>Together for East and West Marsh<\/span> is a new online newsletter with news from the area. They\u2019ve just compiled a list of activities going on in East and West Marsh over the Summer holidays, so you might want to check it out here<\/a>. There are events in there from Grimsby in Bloom, WMCC, MAAG, Grimsby Minster<\/strong> and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also over the Summer, <\/span>Fusion Creative<\/span><\/strong> have their first Summer School. Week 2 starts 19th August<\/span> and runs to 23rd August.<\/span> All the details are on their Facebook page here<\/span><\/a> or contact grimsbyfca@gmail.com<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Capacity Buildings<\/span><\/strong> have just been awards a Heritage Fund grant to research Almshouses in the area and specifically the francis willmer mcaulay Memorial Cottages in Aylesby.. You can read the background to the project on our blog here<\/span><\/a>. If you\u2019re keen on historical research then perhaps you could help volunteer on this or other local Heritage projects? Get in touch with Karl<\/span><\/a> if so.<\/span><\/p>\n

CultureWorks<\/span><\/strong> send out a regular monthly e-newsletter. If you don\u2019t already subscribe then you can get to their July<\/span> edition here<\/span><\/a> and their August<\/span> edition here<\/span><\/a>. There\u2019s plenty going on in and around Grimsby over the Summer, so read the newsletters for a full guide. <\/span><\/p>\n

Moon on the Water<\/span><\/strong> in Cleethorpes has a busy Summer of music events ahead. Visit their website at www.moononthewater.co.uk<\/span><\/a> as it has a full calendar of events you can attend. They\u2019re also fundraising via a donation page here<\/span><\/a>, so if you value live music events and venues then you may want to help<\/span><\/a>. They also now have an e-newsletter that you can subscribe to. So sign up for that here<\/span><\/a>. And if you have some time spare then they are in need of volunteers. Volunteers can help out at events or can help promote the venue and gigs around their area. Get in touch via their website<\/span><\/a> if you are interested or contact us at VANEL<\/span><\/a>. There\u2019s plenty going on over the Summer – 9th August<\/span> it\u2019s DFIFI (Don\u2019t Fight It Feel It), MoonFest on the 17th,<\/span> Julie Felix on 23rd<\/span> and a Comedy event on 31st August,<\/span> as well as regular events in between. Check out the What\u2019s On calendar on the website and come along for a great time!<\/span><\/p>\n

St Andrews Hospice<\/span><\/strong> Quiz Nights continue with a Summer special on 15th August<\/span> and a Horror special on 24th October.<\/span> They are also now running Prize Bingo Nights and the next is on 7th August.<\/span> Details on our calendar and there is a flyer with all the details here. Have some fun all for a good cause. And don\u2019t forget their Ruby Ball – a 40th<\/span> Anniversary celebration event on 27th September.<\/span> Details here.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grimsby and District Live at Home Scheme<\/span><\/strong> are about to kick off their first Summer Club. Running from 5th to 28th August<\/span>, there are a variety of events on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the summer. Lots more information on their Facebook page here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

YMCA<\/span> nationally has kick-started a 175th anniversary tour<\/span><\/a> and will be coming to Grimsby in early September where the roadshow will stop on its journey around 10 towns in the UK. Further details from <\/span>YMCA Humber<\/span><\/strong> as the programme is finalised, but everything happens week commencing 9th September. Watch this space or contact YMCA.<\/span><\/p>\n

CYC The Hangout<\/span><\/strong><\/a> is the Youth Group for North Cleethorpes that was kick started by Big Local North Cleethorpes and YMCA and now runs itself from <\/span>Kings Baptist Church<\/span> Hall in Cleethorpes. It\u2019s got a great Summer lined up for the kids, but if you don\u2019t know much about the Hangout then read this write up of their story on the Big Local website here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

North East Lincolnshire Council<\/span><\/strong> have a new section on their website – Community Spotlight. This is another way to tell the public about your group and your community activities. Have a good look and send your information to the council. Visit Community Spotlight here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
