{"id":20675,"date":"2019-04-25T14:36:41","date_gmt":"2019-04-25T13:36:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/?p=20675"},"modified":"2019-04-25T14:36:41","modified_gmt":"2019-04-25T13:36:41","slug":"literary-lonely-a-new-creative-writing-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/2019\/04\/literary-lonely-a-new-creative-writing-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Literary Lonely &#8211; a new creative writing project"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"moz-text-html\" lang=\"x-unicode\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p><strong>Hammond House Publishing<\/strong> has successfully drawn down some funding from the Big Lottery Communities Fund to support and setup local creative writing groups and VANEL is supporting the process.<\/p>\n<p>Creative writing is a rewarding activity that supports mental health and well-being, improves skills and confidence, and provides a sense of purpose. It is particularly beneficial in mental health, including early stage dementia, preparation and retraining for work and tackling social isolation and loneliness.<\/p>\n<p>There are two ways to get involved with this process:<\/p>\n<p>Firstly you could <strong>form a writers group<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>With support from Big Lottery Communities Fund, the Hammond House Literary Lonely project can provide the following support to help your clients or staff establish and maintain a writers group.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Run Taster sessions<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Support the group leader and volunteers with training and mentoring<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Provide professionals to run creative writing workshops<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Publish work produced by members of the groups<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Provide financially support towards the costs<\/p>\n<p>Hammond House can make sure a programme of support can be tailored to suit your needs. A typical programme would start with a taster session followed by six workshops run by a specialist in creative writing to get the group started then periodic visits to give feedback on progress and cover new topics.
