Bee Future Aviators (BFA)<\/strong> just held their first flying experience event to get young people passionate about potential flying careers. BFA is still in the process of formally setting up as a charity but VANEL is working closely to help support these early startup stages including finding trustees for the newly forming board.<\/p>\n

This week the first group of 3 young people (12 years old) from schools in Brigg went to Humberside airport for a backstage visit around the airport and into the control tower, followed by a flight in a light aircraft.<\/p>\n

Karim Atta who is founding Bee Future Aviators, is a commercial Pilot with Qatar Airlines and has a vision to help find a passion in flying in young people.\u00a0 The charity aims to provide opportunities for school children to take a flight in a light aircraft, look around airports behind the scenes, meet pilots and flying schools and generally learn about careers in aviation.\u00a0 With a bit of luck some of these young people will be inspired enough to take up flying lessons themselves, and who knows, maybe some of them will be flying commercial routes years in the future?<\/p>\n

So this week was a first experiment of the process.\u00a0 Three young chaps from a Brigg school headed to Humberside Airport who, along with POM Flying School, were supporting Bee Aviator Futures with this first flight day.\u00a0 The young people had an in-depth, behind the scenes visit to the Air Traffic Control Tower, whilst some of the ‘older’ visitors had a first trip up in a Piper Warrior light aircraft for a flight around the area and to the Humber Bridge and back.\u00a0 Upon landing, it was all swap, with the young people now taking their flight experience on the light aircraft.<\/p>\n

A great experience had by all on the day.<\/p>\n

Bee Future Aviators is still getting started and its first requirement is to get a complement of Trustees on board who can oversee the setup as a CIO (charitable incorporated organisation) and get it running.\u00a0 The first new Trustee is now on board (literally – as he was one of the first people up in the air!). But more Trustees are still being sought.<\/p>\n

And there will be a requirement for volunteers to support the venture as it gets going.<\/p>\n
