THE work of our Blue Lights Brigade team has received a \u00a33,000 funding boost, thanks to The Tribune Trust.<\/p>\n

The High Sheriff of Lincolnshire for 2018, Ian Walter, visited Scunthorpe Fire Station to present the cheque to BLB co-ordinator Steve Lynn and the fire safety team there.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Tribune Trust is delighted to support this rapidly growing and important initiative. The world today is run by people who show up and do, like these volunteers. There are already 40 people with excellent skills and experience who are signed up BLB and that is fantastic,\u201d said Mr Walter.<\/p>\n

The Tribune Trust is a registered charity that makes grants to groups and communities to reduce crime and make areas safer. It has a board of trustees and is a unique partnership between the High Sheriffs of the East Riding of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, Humberside Police and the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service.<\/p>\n

Our BLB volunteers across Grimsby and Scunthorpe are working with the Fire Service \u2013 helping with its Safe and Well project. Volunteers receive support from the fire team, and visit homes of people, who are identified as potentially vulnerable. They check for things like working smoke alarms and fire hazards, whilst also gauging if other support may be required.<\/p>\n
