The latest monthly governance blog from NCVO<\/a> is out (for January).<\/span> Read it here<\/a>. Only a couple of notices this month, but as always, you and your fellow trustees should have a read. I\u2019m especially interested that the Charity Commission is producing a new, template \u2018welcome pack\u2019 for new charity trustees. It\u2019s only currently at the design and feedback stage, but this is very necessary for the smallest charities which probably don\u2019t have much in the way of this already in place. I\u2019ll be watching out for this new resource.<\/span><\/p>\n

Something to read<\/em>: Sir Stuart Etherington\u2019s open letter for New year to the voluntary sector. Read more about this<\/a> and his accompanying pamphlet<\/a> here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget we still have a wide range of governance and trusteeship related training courses scheduled. Check out the calendar here<\/a>. Of course if you need something but none of these courses or dates seem to fit your need please speak to me. Another ongoing reminder about data protection – namely getting your charity\/organisation ready for the upcoming GDPR. Read my development blog article this week here<\/a>. Don\u2019t ignore it.<\/span><\/p>\n

And finally for this week, a reminder that the Charity Commission needs you to get your annual returns in soon<\/span><\/a> if your financial year ended 31st March 2017.<\/span> You have until 31st January<\/span> to get it submitted. If that means you – get it done!<\/span><\/p>\n
