{"id":17125,"date":"2018-01-12T09:26:53","date_gmt":"2018-01-12T09:26:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/?p=17125"},"modified":"2018-01-12T10:28:58","modified_gmt":"2018-01-12T10:28:58","slug":"fundingfocus11jan18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/2018\/01\/fundingfocus11jan18\/","title":{"rendered":"Funding Focus for 11th Jan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Humberside Youth Association funding deadline looming<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re running out of time to apply for Humberside Youth Association funding (HYA).\u00a0 The deadline for final, round 4 applications is 31<sup>st<\/sup> January.\u00a0 You can read all about the HYA fund here.\u00a0 If you want to ask questions about the process contact Richard Wendel-Jones at VANEL quickly (<a href=\"mailto:richard@vanel.org.uk\">richard@vanel.org.uk<\/a> \/ 01472 361043).\u00a0 If you\u2019re a young individual you can apply for up to \u00a3500 or if you are a group working with younger people then you can apply for up to \u00a32500.\u00a0 All you need is a really good project\/idea that will help younger people.\u00a0 So get thinking and get applying now! <a href=\"http:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/projects\/humberside-youth-association-funding\/\">Information here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>NCVO Funding update<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A quick read <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncvo.org.uk\/2018\/01\/10\/sustainable-funding-round-up-january-2018\/\">update on Funding from NCVO here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CoastNEL funding available<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In case you haven\u2019t seen it already, here in full is the announcement of the <strong>CoastNEL funding<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>In a move sure to be welcomed by community and voluntary groups, businesses and visitors alike, CoastNEL has just announced that they are making available a number of grants totalling \u00a3170,000 to organisations looking to put on events and activities in the Cleethorpes area.<\/p>\n<p>CoastNEL is the private sector led group responsible for allocating, distributing and spending the \u00a33.8 million awarded to Cleethorpes as part of the Coastal Community Funding Initiative and its chair Lawrence Brown said: \u201cIt is well known that we were successful in securing \u00a33.8 million of Government funding and have started our engagement and consultation process in terms of changes to the street scene such as new lighting columns, upgraded footpaths etc.\u00a0 What might be less well known is that within our bid we had identified a sum of \u00a3170,000 of funding to encourage community events in Cleethorpes and also to look at extending the season outside the traditional summer months\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>There are three different types of grant available:-<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Up to \u00a3500 for small community groups looking to put on small scale events or activities;<\/li>\n<li>Up to \u00a31,000 for businesses to work together to put on public events that will boost trade, increase footfall and enhance the existing events programme, for example, food and drink fairs and artisan markets;<\/li>\n<li>Up to \u00a315,000 for professional events providers looking to bring new and imaginative visitor experiences into the resort that will attract more people and ideally extend the tourism season. These experiences will promote Cleethorpes as a destination location with a variety of arts, cultural, heritage and sporting events.\u00a0 The grant must include match funding, attract large numbers of visitors and complement the existing events programme. .<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>At this stage it is thought that there will be three rounds of funding windows and the events must be delivered by October 2019.\u00a0 Applications for the first round must be submitted by 28 February 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Matt Patrick, North East Lincolnshire Council\u2019s portfolio holder for tourism, said: \u201cThis is a great way of encouraging more people to visit Cleethorpes and see the changes that will be happening in and around the resort.\u00a0 Working with partners such as CoastNEL we have been looking at ways of extending the season and bringing visitors into the resort all year round, this is the first stage in that process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lawrence Brown concluded: \u201cThe Government has made it clear that this money can only be used for these types of projects and has to be allocated wisely.\u00a0 As long as an event complies with the necessary health and safety then we are making it as simple as possible for someone to apply for the funds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More information can be obtained by visiting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discovernel.co.uk\/#\/page\/coastnel\">http:\/\/www.discovernel.co.uk\/#\/page\/coastnel<\/a> where grant application forms and details of submission dates are also available.<\/p>\n<p>About CoastNEL and these funds:<\/p>\n<p>CoastNEL is a subgroup of North East Lincolnshire\u2019s Visitor Economy Services and Retail Group (VESR).\u00a0 Both groups are private sector led and work with the local authority in developing strategy to improve the working and living environment in North East Lincolnshire. For details of the group, visit the web page above.<\/p>\n<p>The funds were awarded in May 2017 as part of round 4 of the Coastal Community Fund administered by the Department for Communities and Local Government.<\/p>\n<p>The funds are administered by North East Lincolnshire Council as the accountable body for public funding.<\/p>\n<p>Event organisers wishing to use public land will need to complete paperwork regarding health and safety and public liability. The programme is ongoing.\u00a0 There are a number of grants to apply for and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.santanderfoundation.org.uk\/discovery-grants.aspx\">all the details are here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>West Marsh Community Centre was successful with a Santander Discovery Grant last year and in partnership with VANEL they were able to support their Older People\u2019s group with IT support during the course of the year.\u00a0 So take a look at the details and get applying!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dormant accounts money released<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The government has announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/government-unlocking-330-million-from-dormant-accounts-to-build-a-fairer-society\">up to \u00a3330m from dormant bank and building society accounts will be used to help the homeless, disadvantaged young people, local charities and other good causes in the UK<\/a> over the next four years. NCVO released a statement outlining that while a welcome boon for initiatives tackling important causes, NCVO hopes that the use of an estimated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/dormant-assets-commission\">\u00a32bn of dormant assets<\/a> is used more strategically, for example, by <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncvo.org.uk\/2017\/09\/22\/how-the-budget-could-support-charities\/\">endowing community foundations to provide local grant funding over the long-term and helping charities to purchase community assets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Event to launch new Clinks funding programme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HM Prisons and Probation Service (HMPPS) intend to launch a grant funding programme for 2018-2020. Clinks and HMPPS are holding two information events for voluntary organisations to provide further details on the grant programme to organisations who may wish to apply for funding from the programme.<\/p>\n<p>The programme will aim to enable the voluntary sector to contribute to better outcomes for offenders in Public Sector Prisons, the National Probation Service and Youth Custody Services.<\/p>\n<p>The first event is in London, but the second is more accessible by being in York on 7<sup>th<\/sup> February 2018.\u00a0 The event itself is free.\u00a0 If this is of interest then you can find out more and book your place here <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clinks.org\/events\/hmpps-grant-funding-event-0\">https:\/\/www.clinks.org\/events\/hmpps-grant-funding-event-0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>New Food Waste Reduction Fund Announced (England)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One to watch out for if you\u2019re involved with food distribution such as food banks:<\/p>\n<p>A new \u00a3500,000 fund has been announced to support the redistribution of quality surplus food to people in need throughout England. The Food Waste Reduction Fund will be administered by sustainability experts WRAP and will be open to organisations that redistribute food as well as charities who receive and share food with people in need. The fund aims to help organisations to overcome barriers to the redistribution of food such as: Training and education; Infrastructure support &#8211; for equipment such as new vehicles to transport more types of food; Forming collaborative partnerships; Communication, logistics and technology. Further details about how to apply will be available on the WRAP website in 2018, when the fund opens for applications.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wrap.org.uk\/content\/new-food-waste-reduction-fund-will-help-charities-feed-people\">http:\/\/www.wrap.org.uk\/content\/new-food-waste-reduction-fund-will-help-charities-feed-people<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A couple more selective grants that might be of interest:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funding Available for Adults and Children with Physical Disabilities (England)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Individuals and charitable organisations within the UK can apply for grants of up to \u00a310,000 (\u00a35,000 for individuals) to support the needs of adults and children with physical disabilities in England. Funding is available to assist those individuals with a disability to improve their physical, psychological and emotional well-being. In the case for funding for individuals applications must be supported and completed by a third party sponsor. A sponsor could be, for example, a health\/personal care professional, social worker or charity \/support group representative. The Trustees meet twice yearly in April and October with successful applicants being advised by 1st November and 1st May each year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bushco.co.uk\/the-paul-bush-foundation-trust\/%20\">http:\/\/www.bushco.co.uk\/the-paul-bush-foundation-trust\/%20<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Funding Available to Support Digital Social Action Projects (UK)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Go Think Big is offering grants of up to \u00a3500 to support local digital social action projects to inspire young people (aged 15-24) to make a positive impact within their community. This could include film, radio, journalism or general media, which focuses on using technology to harness a creative vision. Projects can be based around anything from skills workshops, podcasts or journalism pieces, to live events, community initiatives or apps. Applications are open to individuals or a group of people. Participation in the programme will run for 6 months from January 2018 &#8211; July 2018. Projects can take place at any point during these dates, or for the entire duration, depending on the nature of your idea. The closing date for applications is the 28th January 2018.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gothinkbig.co.uk\/opportunities\/youth-project-2018-ready\">https:\/\/gothinkbig.co.uk\/opportunities\/youth-project-2018-ready<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Greggs Foundation &#8211; Local Communities Projects Fund (England, Scotland &amp; Wales)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next application deadline for the Greggs Foundation Local Community Projects Fund is the 9th March 2018. The foundation is a grant making trust which distributes around \u00a31.8 million per year to organisations throughout England, Scotland and Wales. The Local Community Projects Fund makes grants of up to \u00a32,000 to not for profit organisations with a turnover of less than \u00a3300,000 a year who work to reduce the disadvantage of the most deprived people in the community. All projects must support a community of interest, ie people who are disabled or suffering chronic illness; living in poverty; voluntary carers; homeless people; isolated older people; other demonstrable significant need.
