13th-17th November<\/span> is National Trustees\u2019 Week<\/a>. Every year VANEL makes the most of Trustees\u2019 Week to celebrate the role of volunteer trustees and committee members and to use it as an excuse to talk about ways to improve governance in our sector. This year is no different. We\u2019ve got a \u201cGovernance Challenge workshop\u201d on Wed 15th which is open to all our member organisations, and on Friday we\u2019re running an internal event talking with our IGNITE team looking in detail at how they can encourage the groups they work with to get their governance working well.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ll also be attending the NCVO Trustee Conference in London on the 14th and will be reporting back from there on national trends and approaches.<\/span><\/p>\n

For details of the Governance Challenge workshop<\/strong> see last week\u2019s news here<\/a>. And if you\u2019re interested in the new Charity Governance Code then we\u2019ll be looking at that in some detail during the session.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cInduction and Refresher Training for Trustees\u201d<\/strong>. The last of our scheduled sessions for 2017 is today (3rd November<\/span><\/span><\/span>) – the next will be on Tue 9th Jan. But these sessions can also be arranged specifically for your whole committee or board. Get in touch if you\u2019d like a bespoke version of this training for your newer Trustees.<\/span><\/p>\n
