The first dialogue will look at Childhood Poverty \u2013 not just lamenting its consequences \u2013 but challenging ourselves as individuals, seeking to understand it and discover what we can do to change it. Gandhi once reflected that \u2018Poverty is the worst form of violence\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The inspiration for the series &#8211; \u2018Fostering The Future\u2019 &#8211; comes from two sources:- The work of the Creating Strong Communities &#8211; Families First program in North East Lincolnshire Council which is pioneering a unique and exemplary way of working that makes a genuine difference to the lives of children. Also, inspiration comes from the pledge made by the Men of SGI-UK (Soka Gakkai International UK*) \u2018to foster the youth\u2019 \u2013 a pledge which is symbolised by the leaf of the Ginkgo tree \u2013 also called the <em>grandfather grandchild<\/em> tree because it takes two generations to bare its first flower. A symbol of the great care and patience that it takes to raise each child.<\/p>\n<p>The dialogues, ongoing since 2009, have delved deeply into the cornerstones of our civil society and our humanity \u2013 looking at Justice and Identity from every possible angle. September\u2019s dialogue will be the 67<sup>th<\/sup> event and will take place at West Marsh Community Centre on 14th September from. Doors open at 5:30 for a 6 pm start.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, why dialogue? A dialogue is restorative in nature, imbued with the spirit of learning \u2013 it\u2019s different from other types of meetings. It is listening &#8211; A dialogue is a place to develop and grow and change oneself rather than a place to state a case or win an argument or change the \u2018other\u2019.
