{"id":14020,"date":"2017-03-27T10:48:53","date_gmt":"2017-03-27T09:48:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/?p=14020"},"modified":"2017-03-27T10:48:53","modified_gmt":"2017-03-27T09:48:53","slug":"climb-4-new-mental-health-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/2017\/03\/climb-4-new-mental-health-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Climb 4: New Mental Health Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Official press release from VANEL Member organisation Climb 4 about their new mental health programme.<\/p>\n<p>Climb 4 Limited A Grimsby based Social Enterprise that uses Expressive Arts to improve the Health and Well-being of the Community, has received \u00a344,728 grant from money raised by HealthWin through The Health Lottery.\u00a0 51 Community Interest Companies raising money to address health inequalities across England, Scotland and Wales through The Health Lottery.<\/p>\n<p>HealthAble is a Community Interest Company committed to raising money to address health inequalities in East Riding, Hull, North and North East Lincolnshire.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healthwincic.org.uk\">www.healthwincic.org.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Health Lottery is operated for and on behalf of 51 Community Interest Companies across England, Scotland and Wales, all holding society lottery licenses issued by the Gambling Commission. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healthlottery.co.uk\">www.healthlottery.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>People\u2019s Health Trust is an independent charity addressing health inequalities across Great Britain. It works closely with each Community Interest Company distributing grants. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peopleshealthtrust.org.uk\">www.peopleshealthtrust.org.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The funding will enable Climb 4 Limited to support Young People aged 16-26, experiencing poor Mental Health to set up and run a new Young Peoples Support Network.\u00a0 The two-year project will begin on the 1<sup>st<\/sup> April and Climb 4 aim to work with Community partners to engage and support 10 Volunteers to train to become Peer Mentors and form part of the Support Networks Planning Committee.<\/p>\n<p>As part of their role the Volunteer Mentors will plan an activity programme including monthly Committee meetings, Peer support sessions, Training Opportunities, Employment Forums, IAG (Information and Guidance sessions) and a Sport and Expressive Arts Workshops.\u00a0 Once the programme is designed the volunteers will take part in the Marketing and Promotion of the Support Network Programme offering the planned activities to Young People within the wider Local Community.\u00a0 Our project will empower the volunteers residing in Grimsby, to create, run and manage a Support Network from \u2018The Warehouse\u2019, Freeman Street DN32 7AR.\u00a0 A need previously identified, the semi-structured programme, will include weekly fluid activities, chosen and planned by members.\u00a0 It will create stronger connections by providing a safe, non-judgmental environment and make the community more accepting of Mental Health by building stronger community engagement.\u00a0 Members will feel valued, improve their collective capabilities, develop a community voice, via our User Led model.\u00a0 Through a final Showcase they will share experiences\/learning with the wider community.<\/p>\n<p>Many of our target participants may feel excluded from mainstream activities, could demonstrate high levels of anxiety, may feel socially isolated, experience low self-esteem, and lack peer support.\u00a0 The programme aims to reduce the effect of these factors by building a Community Self Help Network run by Young People experiencing Poor Mental health to use their knowledge and experiences to help themselves and others to accept and manage their condition.\u00a0 This creative supportive network will build healthy relationships, overcome discrimination, and poor access to advice, support, training and employment.
