Led by the Office for Civil Society as part of DCMS, the day will celebrate and shine a spotlight on the work of small local charities and community groups. The main focus is to provide local charities with a platform to promote the fantastic work they are doing and the many, varied benefits they bring to people, communities and good causes.<\/p>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"390.73449999999997\">Both the build up and activity on the day will revolve around the #LocalCharitiesDay hashtag. All external organisations and supportive partners are being encouraged to use this across their digital channels in the run up to, and during, Local Charities Day. You can also show your support for local charities and community groups by signing up to the #LocalCharitiesDay <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thunderclap.it\/projects\/50029-local-charities-day-16-12-16?locale=en\">Thunderclap. <\/a><\/div>\n<p>Minister for Civil Society, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/people\/rob-wilson\">Rob Wilson<\/a>, said: &#8220;On Local Charities Day, I want us all to shout from the rooftops about small, local charities: their energy, commitment, expertise and the benefits they bring to their communities. We have already done a huge amount of work for small and local charities, reducing regulation and introducing a Bill to parliament which will make Gift Aid even more flexible and generous&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the link below for full details about Local Charities Day 2016 and how you can get involved.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/LocalCharitiesDay2016.pdf\" rel=\"\">Local Charities Day 2016<\/a><\/p>\n<p>LocalGiving&#8217;s<a href=\"https:\/\/localgiving.org\/what-we-do\/campaigns\/giveme5\/\"> #GiveMe5<\/a> campaign will be going live between 00:00am and 23:59pm on this year&#8217;s Local Charities Day. For every \u00a35 donation made to a participating\u00a0charity to the #GiveMe5 campaign, that charity will be placed into a draw to be doubled by an extra \u00a35 of match funding. Up to 1,000 \u00a35 donations will be matched as part of this promotion.
