Update provided by Humberside Police about a new funding opportunity for groups/organisations able to create projects tackling Serious & Organised Crime (SOC).
North East Lincolnshire has been selected as a pilot site of a national Home Office project to tackle the community impacts of Serious & Organised Crime (SOC). I am pleased to announce that the Home Office have secured funding for a second year of the pilot to run up until 31st March 2021.
I am now in a position to welcome applications to support local interventions to tackle the threat posed by organised crime groups.
There were numerous successes and lessons learned from year 1 and I am keen to develop, expand and maximise the collective response to tackle the criminal gangs that cause harm in our communities.
I am seeking passionate individuals, groups, charities and businesses to join the response to make North East Lincolnshire safer and create a more hostile environment for organised criminals to operate.
My role is to jointly offer financial support to interventions created to tackle the threat, but also to bring groups together to work in synergy creating a ‘Whole Systems Approach’.
Funding bids up to a maximum of £35,000 are now welcomed.
The deadline for bids to be returned is Friday 3rd July 1200hrs.

In order to assist applicants I have the following points:
- Please look at the UK SOC strategy, the Theory of Change Model and the Humberside Police Plan on a Page documents attached to identify where your intervention fits in and make specific reference to key points where you can.
- I see the threat as a timeline, point ‘0’ being when the individual starts to offend. At what point does your intervention plan to make a difference?
Is your intervention education, incentivised engagement with services or diversionary i.e. an employability program?
- Gaps locally appear to be:
- Support for 14-17yr olds who do not want to engage at school and are likely to be on a pathway towards criminality.
- I am looking for innovation, something not necessarily delivered in North East Lincolnshire yet, i.e. Virtual Reality education.
- Mental health support for offenders wanting to change their lives and seek employment i.e. wrap around support.
- Targeting the whole family to positively change the culture within households.
Application tips:
- Evidence where you can how your intervention can impact on the SOC agenda (as per documents attached)
- Evidence how you already are or can work with other agencies to maximise the impact of your intervention.
- What is the legacy beyond this pilot funding? How will you sustain your activity beyond March 2021? What are your plans for growth and continuation?
- Unsuccessful applications last year saw the upper cost limit as a target, not a necessity. The applications will be scrutinised for cost v likely effectiveness. Evidence what you need to deliver, not necessarily what you want. There will be numerous applications for limited funding.
- Think about your objectives and how will be track, monitor and evidence your success.
I plan to collate the returns on the 3rd July and convene my local board members w/c 6th July to decide.
