As North East Lincolnshire’s Principle Social Worker, Christine Jackson is currently exploring the idea of developing a local social work practice network. The network’s membership would comprise social workers across all providers of health and social care, including the voluntary and charitable sector. The purpose of the forum would be to create a peer to peer environment which develops a shared professional social work practice grounded in ethics and human rights, and which provides on-going opportunities for understanding and applying legal and sector developments to practice. We would like the network to foster a professional exchange of information and ideas, contribute to shared learning and support career progression.
In order to gauge the level of interest in developing a local social work network local organisations are asked to consider whether they employ, or have as volunteers within their organisation, social workers who are interested in participating in a network. Interested social workers are asked to send their details (name, provider organisation, HCPC registration number and email contact) to Marie Vickers at marievickers@nhs.net by no later than 4th September 2017. It is hoped that, should there be sufficient interest in creating a forum, a first meeting will be held in early autumn.
