English Garden Future Fund

Operating as an annual bursary programme, the English Garden Future Fund is rewarding projects that will inspire gardeners and promote horticulture in the UK. Each year, the English Garden Magazine will award one recipient to help fund or part-fund an innovative project, initiative, event, product, idea, research or development.

For the 2017 competition, entrants are asked to design a small back garden for a middle-aged couple with no children, living a terraced house. When designing the garden, entrants are asked to think carefully about how it will link to the surrounding vernacular. Entrants should produce both a plan and a 3D drawing to help communicate their ideas, and list on the plan the choice of hard landscaping materials and plants.

The 2017 prize package is as follows:

The scheme is open to individual amateur and professional gardeners as well as industry bodies and heritage, conservation and community gardening groups, non-profit groups and charities. Proposals from anyone involved in developing some aspect of the horticulture industry, however small, will be accepted. Applicants must be 18 years of age or over and must be UK residents.

The closing date for applications is Monday 7th August 2017.
