{"id":3963,"date":"2014-11-11T16:02:41","date_gmt":"2014-11-11T16:02:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/?p=3963"},"modified":"2014-11-11T16:02:41","modified_gmt":"2014-11-11T16:02:41","slug":"linkage-artbeat-competition-seeks-entries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/2014\/11\/linkage-artbeat-competition-seeks-entries\/","title":{"rendered":"Linkage ArtBeat Competition seeks entries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A new annual art and photography challenge is being launched for pupils with additional support needs across Lincolnshire and beyond by the county\u2019s learning disability charity, Linkage.\u00a0 The Linkage ArtBeat Competition will be open to all young people primarily of secondary school age, attached to mainstream special educational units and those attending specialist schools.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>If you or your organisation work with younger people, please share this message with them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The competition is inviting artwork and photography on any theme with the aim of stimulating and celebrating their creativity, artistic skills and talents, and exhibiting their work to a wider audience. Entries can in any medium of art or photography up to A3 size (303mm x 426mm).<\/p>\n<p>Entries are open until <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3oth January 2015<\/span> with a top prize of \u00a3100 in each age category:\u00a0 under-14, under-16 and over-16. Winners will receive \u00a3100, second place entries \u00a375 and \u00a350 for third prize. The winners\u2019 schools will receive a selection of arts materials so that everyone can share in the success.<\/p>\n<p>The prize-winners and their families will be invited to attend an awards ceremony in <span class=\"__postbox-detected-content __postbox-detected-date\">February<\/span> after which the winning entries will form part of a touring exhibition and be featured in a Linkage charity calendar.<\/p>\n<p>The ArtBeat competition was officially launched during Linkage\u2019s annual Work Skills Week for local school <span class=\"__postbox-detected-content __postbox-detected-date\">pupils on Friday<\/span> 24<sup>th<\/sup> <span class=\"__postbox-detected-content __postbox-detected-date\">October.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Linkage Chief Executive Ges Roulstone says: \u201cThis is a great way of working with schools and highlighting the creative skills in art and photography of students. We\u2019ve exciting prizes too so I hope it\u2019s a must for hundreds of young people. I can\u2019t wait to see the results.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although the competition is primarily aimed at older students,\u00a0 interest from primary schools is welcome.<\/p>\n<p>The competition coincides with the creation of an arts enterprise by Linkage to support current and former students and clients to develop their skills.
