In our October Newsletter<\/a> we announced that VANEL would be holding a number of events during National Trustees\u2019 Week<\/a> in order to support and champion Trusteeship in our area.<\/p>\n

Our programme for the week (10th<\/sup>-14th<\/sup> November<\/strong>) is now taking shape. So here\u2019s this week\u2019s update on what we have planned so far and how you can get involved.<\/p>\n

National Trustees\u2019 Week itself is an annual showcase of the great work that trustees do and it highlights opportunities for people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference.<\/p>\n

We hope that locally we\u2019ll be able to provide some training for local trustees, share information with those thinking of becoming trustees or committee members, and help local charity boards to think afresh about how they are running.<\/p>\n

So take a look at the (evolving) programme below & get in touch if you\u2019d like to book onto something or would simply like to ask about Trustee and Governance support from VANEL.<\/p>\n

MONDAY 10th<\/sup> November
\n\u201cJoin Us and Make a Difference\u201d
\n12noon \u2013 2pm at OpenDoor in Grimsby<\/strong>
\nWe kick off the week with an event designed to get everyone thinking about Trusteeship and Good Governance \u2013 whether you are already a Trustee, or represent a board or want to become a Trustee.

TUESDAY 11th<\/sup> November
\n\u201cYoung Trustees wanted\u201d
\nTimes and venues yet to be confirmed
\n<\/strong>People aged 18-24 only account for 0.5% of all Trustees nationally? Why?
\nOn the Tuesday we\u2019ll focus on younger trustees and help younger people (and groups) explore why being a Trustee is actually a great idea.
\nMore details very soon.<\/p>\n

WEDNESDAY 12th<\/sup> November
\n\u201cTechnology for Trustees\u201d
\n10am-12noon at the Elms
\n<\/strong>\u00a35 each for Members\/Friends or \u00a310 otherwise
\n<\/strong>A training workshop aimed at existing Trustees and Trustee boards to help them understand how to understand, tackle and master technology when it applies both to their organisation and to the operation of their board itself.
\nPlaces will be limited so please book.

THURSDAY 13th<\/sup> November
\n\u201cRoles and Responsibilities of Trustees\u201d
\n1.30pm-3.30pm at West Marsh Community Centre<\/strong>
\n\u00a35 each for Members\/Friends or \u00a310 otherwise
\nA training session aimed at new trustees or those seeking to refresh their knowledge about the role of a Trustee. What must you do? What should you do? What could you do? How should you behave? How can you make yourself helpful? How can you gain from the experience? How can you improve? How can you get support? \u2026 and much more.

FRIDAY 14th<\/sup> November
\n\u201cTea and Trustees\u201d
\nAll morning at Grimsby Minster Caf\u00e9
\n<\/strong>Drop into the Minster during the morning to talk with other Trustees. Aimed at existing Trustees, this is a chance to informally chat with other Trustees from other organisations. You can share experiences, learn from each other, learn about techniques and ways to grow as a trustee or simply get a drink from the Caf\u00e9 and enjoy the social experience.
\nMore details very soon about how this Trustee Peer support session will work.<\/p>\n
