Technology is everywhere these days – we’re in a Digital by Default world – and charities and non-profit organisations need to pay attention to it and understand what it means for their organisation. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Every non-profit committee or board should have a grip on how their organisation benefits from technology, is supported or empowered by it or uses it to remove barriers or risks.<\/strong>
\nBut not every board has a committee member or trustee that understands how to stay on top of technology.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So VANEL can help.\u00a0 On Wednesday 12th November we\u2019re running a \u201cTechnology for Trustees\u201d training workshop in Grimsby.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s supported by our Big Lottery funding so is free to Members and Friends of VANEL, and is aimed at Trustees, board members or committee members from local non-profit organisations.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll look at three themes:
\n1. The latest trends in technology, what’s new, what’s coming up, what’s relevant to the nonprofit sector, what should we be aware of, but importantly, what does it all mean?
\nNot sure about terminology, about websites, social media, cloud tools, or don’t know your Chromebook from Android?
\nWe\u2019ll help demystify the tech.
\n2. How boards can keep an eye on technology for their charities or non-profit.\u00a0 How to fund tech, how to manage risks, how to remove barriers, helping people use and cope with technological change, using technology in new ways, taking up new opportunities and managing technology effectively.
\nBoards routinely keep an eye on the finances of a group, but how many boards keep an eye on whether technology is working well for them?\u00a0 We\u2019ll guide you through this.
\n3. Tech for better working committees.\u00a0 Trustees and committee members share lots of paperwork and need to work together and communicate as a team.\u00a0 Digital tools can make this collaboration quicker and easier than ever.\u00a0 So what tools can you use, when and how?\u00a0 We\u2019ll explore some great ways to use digital technology together.<\/p>\n

So if you\u2019d like to understand the application of technology to the way you, your board and your non-profit organisation work, come along to this course.<\/p>\n

This training workshop from VANEL<\/strong> is held as part of National Trustees\u2019 Week 2014<\/a> which annually showcases the great work that trustees do and highlights opportunities for people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference.\u00a0 During Trustees\u2019 Week (10th-16th November) VANEL has 5 events planned over 5 days which should be of interest to anyone involved with the support or management of a local non-profit or charity.<\/p>\n

This workshop \u2013 \u201cTechnology for Trustees\u201d is supported by Big Lottery Awards for All as part of VANEL\u2019s IT Network programme.\u00a0 Because of this, places are free if you are connected with an organisation which is a Member or Friend of VANEL.\u00a0 Places for other non-profit organisations are \u00a35 each or \u00a310 if you are not a non-profit or are outside North East Lincolnshire.<\/p>\n

Space is limited, so only a maximum of three attendees per organisation please.<\/p>\n
