Scams are fraud and fraud is a crime. Crime has victims and these victims could be us, our friends, family, staff, volunteers, neighbours or beneficiaries.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s helpful to know what sorts of scams are happening so that we all know how to look out for the signs.<\/span><\/p>\n

So this just out booklet \u2013 <\/span>\u201cThe Little Book of Big Scams\u201d<\/span> is a must read. Read it for yourself. Share it with others. Make sure people know about it.<\/span><\/p>\n

It explains about the common types of Scam (there are a lot of them) and the signs to look out for. It also explains what to do about them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Remember: if it sounds too good to be true it probably is!<\/span><\/p>\n

Anyone can fall foul of a scam. If you\u2019re busy, distracted, off your guard then then you\u2019re vulnerable to being scammed. Keep vigilant and share this guide with others to ensure you\u2019re helping beat the criminals.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you see a scam report it \u2013 Action Fraud is a good start.<\/span><\/p>\n

And if you ever think that a Scam is just annoying then I recommend visiting www.thinkjessica.com. Scams have victims whose lives can be destroyed. We all need to work together to help stop scams.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re part of a Neighbourhood Watch Group<\/span><\/a> then talk to the group about Scams \u2013 make sure your area is aware. Talk to Glyn Atkinson<\/span><\/a> too (NEL Neighbourhood Watch Area Coordinator) as there is Scam Awareness training being organised across Grimsby and Cleethorpes.<\/span><\/p>\n
