Places limited so book early.<\/p>\n<p><b>&#8220;Art &amp; Landscape: material, process and product.&#8221;<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2125\" alt=\"abbeywalkphoto1\" src=\"http:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/abbeywalkphoto1.jpg\" width=\"254\" height=\"200\" \/>A wonderful opportunity to work with David Ainley in this unique 3-hour workshop. David will begin with a presentation of some of his work, and that of inspirational artists, before going on to work with participants in a variety of media, focusing on techniques that merge concerns with landscape, materials, process and product.<\/p>\n<p>This workshop is intended for anyone, whether experienced or a beginner, who has an inquiring disposition towards creative engagement with art through working with materials and discussion.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop out sets out to investigate, stimulate and support creativity in landscape drawing, painting and related activities (e.g. collage &amp; mixed-media) and to promote understanding of relationships between traditional and contemporary approaches.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop will also provide some historical background and encourage discussion of individual responses to a variety of aspects of landscape and their suitability as subject-matter, together with the acquisition of a repertoire of technical skills and strategies in using art media with an emphasis on process as a basis for developing confidence in art practice and\/or art appreciation.<\/p>\n<p>In a mutually supportive atmosphere ideas will arise from some hands-on activities with simple materials (paper, ink, wax crayon, graphite etc.) aimed at developing a repertoire of skills and approaches offering insights into landscape art for artists and viewers of art.<\/p>\n<p>David Ainley has had many solo shows including an acclaimed exhibition at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham. He has twice been shortlisted for the <i>Jerwood Drawing Prize<\/i> and was winner of the Derby City Open Exhibition (2004). Last year he had work selected for <i>The Discerning Eye<\/i> at The Mall Galleries, London.
