We’ve got bits and pieces of news for you as always, but the big story this week is from the IGNITE team. It’s the beginning of a new academic year and we’ve said goodbye to one team of youth workers and have just welcomed in our new, replacement team. So read on for our thank you and goodbyes and to meet the new IGNITE team members.

And put the date in your diary – the VANEL AGM will be on Thursday 11th October at 3pm at Kings Baptist Church in Cleethorpes. Each year we take on graduates around their last year of studies and bring them on board for a year’s training, development and support whilst they in turn support young leaders and volunteers from across our communities.

So as the new academic year starts we’re welcoming in our new team members into the IGNITE team. But that has also meant saying goodbye to our leaders from last year and other team members!

So we’ve said goodbye to Danielle, Nicole and Ellie and also to Dan. They’ve all left for new jobs and opportunities and we’re really grateful for their hard work over the past year. If you’re a member of the Network or part of the Volunteer Development Service already then you’ll have had your invites and agenda already. If not, get in touch with Liz at VANEL to book yourself on. More details are online here. We’re at Cromwell Road community fire station and starting at 9.30am. If you’re involved with recruiting or managing volunteers in any way for your organisation then you’ll find it useful. But this week we’d like to draw your attention to particular opportunities in a lovely (but busy) Cafe that needs volunteers to help out in both the Cafe and in the kitchen. This Grimsby Cafe would be grateful for any help, whether that is a full 4 hours, or 2 x 2 hour stints. 2 hours would be 9.45-11.45am or 11.30am-1pm. That fits well with a school day too! If you’d like to find out more about this opportunity then please get in touch with Liz direct (01472 231123).

We also specifically are looking for individuals who are interested in taking up roles on committees or charity boards to help with the governance and leadership of local not for profit organisations.
