Read it here. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/charity-commission-news-issue-59\">https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/charity-commission-news-issue-59<\/a> Every registered charity should be receiving it automatically. Do you and all your fellow trustees share it and read it? Make sure you subscribe and keep up to date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Opportunity for younger leaders to get up to speed with Trustee skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are aged 18-30 and think you\u2019d like to get involved as a trustee or on the board of a committee (or you know someone like this) then the IGNITE Steering Group is currently recruiting new members. This is a peer and mentor supported, training ground for you to learn the ropes before you do the legal bits to sign up for a full charity trustee role. The courses include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cCould you be a Trustee?\u201d<\/strong> Suited to people thinking of becoming a trustee for the first time<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cInduction and Refresher Training for Trustees\u201d<\/strong> for those who are new into the role (or need to be brought back up to speed)<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cFinances for non-financial trustees\u201d<\/strong> because every trustee needs to know something about the financial health of their charity<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cBetter Boards: using the Code to review and improve your governance\u201d<\/strong> for individual trustees and the whole board to learn how to improve and develop good practice in your governance approach<\/p>\n<p>And <strong>\u201cTechnology for Trustees\u201d<\/strong> because the level of benefit being gained from the digital and technical revolution within charities is still extremely poor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And finally \u2013 GDPR (again)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This one isn\u2019t going away for a while yet, and I\u2019ll be covering it in some way every week now.\u00a0 The new GDPR comes in on 25<sup>th<\/sup> May 2018 so the clock is ticking for you (and all companies, social enterprises, charities and groups) to get their head around GDPR to ensure they are compliant with the new rules.\u00a0 Data Protection should now be \u2018designed in\u2019 to everything your organisation does.\u00a0 And it\u2019s the board of trustees who need to be taking responsibility for this work.<\/p>\n<p>For now, here\u2019s a recent update: the ICO have just published \u201cGeneral Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) FAQs for charities\u201d.
