Dear friends, dialogue delegates and colleagues,<\/p>\n
Our second dialogue of this series follows on from the first in September and we will stay with the theme of supporting the generations of the future<\/strong> \u2013 In this dialogue we will look at and consider the effects of ACE\u2019s \u2013 Adverse Childhood Experiences on parenting \u2013 and how parenting impacts across generations.<\/p>\n The dialogue is on the 19th<\/sup> October (Thursday) at the West Marsh Community Centre. The inspiration for the series – \u2018Fostering The Future\u2019 – comes from two sources:- The work of the Creating Strong Communities – Families First program in North East Lincolnshire Council which is pioneering a unique and exemplary way of working that makes genuine difference to the lives of children. Also, inspiration comes from the pledge made by the Men of SGI-UK (Soka Gakkai International UK*) \u2018to foster the youth\u2019 \u2013 a pledge which is symbolised by the leaf of the Ginkgo tree \u2013 also called the grandfather grandchild<\/em> tree because it takes two generations to bare it first flower. A symbol of the great care and patience that it takes to raise each child.<\/p>\n Finally, why dialogue? A dialogue is restorative in nature, imbued with the spirit of learning \u2013 it\u2019s different from other types of meetings.. It is listening – A dialogue is a place to develop and grow and change oneself rather than a place to state a case or win an argument or change the \u2018other\u2019.
