As always, there are a couple of challenging articles about Governance and Trusteeship appearing on the Guardian’s Voluntary Sector Network<\/a>.\u00a0 They are however, worth a read as they demonstrate the state of governance across our sector as a whole.<\/p>\n

So have a read of: “Charities must get tougher over governance: even if it hurts<\/a>“.\u00a0\u00a0 And there is a controversial article<\/a> here assessing the value of trustees at all!\u00a0 With a response article following up on that here<\/a> – combining both positive and negative attitudes.\u00a0 These attitudes to governance are very real and it’s a reason we at VANEL are keen to encourage good and better governance.\u00a0 But there are a million trustees in charities across the UK so its very likely that a lot of them are also carrying out their roles in a powerful and effective manner too.\u00a0 Sometimes the negative can outweigh the positive, but it would be nice to know about these positives too.\u00a0 If you’ve got thoughts on these articles I’d be very happy to hear from you.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

If so, we’re continuing to run our popular “Induction and Refresher Training for Trustees<\/strong><\/a>“.\u00a0 We’ll be setting a new date very soon for the next of these two hour sessions.\u00a0 So if you or your trustees would like to be added to the list, we’ll be trying our best to choose a date and time that suits as many people as possible.\u00a0 Prices are \u00a310 per head or \u00a315 for non-members or (potentially) free for trustees aged under 30.\u00a0 Contact me direct (see below) to book or express interest.<\/p>\n
