The club has been established over 20 years with some of the long standing active members having given their time for 13, 15 and 18 years. The newest member joined only a few weeks ago!

The responsibility of running the club is shared by members and the roles are set out in the constitution. Annually, members are invited to put their names forward to be responsible for the role for the following year (if they wish to, depending on their skills and experience).

They raise money by holding many varied events including dances, quiz nights, jumble sales, coffee mornings, prize bingo nights and their now famous delicious afternoon teas!! Events are held monthly and all the members contribute in some way to the success of the events.

The recipients of their fund-raising efforts are selected following investigation into how the donation will be used and then a discussion between all the members. The Ladybirds have supported many diverse organisations and individuals recently including;
North East Lincolnshire Cerebral Palsy Society (the money being used to purchase a special Lycra suit for a child to support their body)
Grimsby Samaritans
Luke Easton, (a young athlete who is representing England in karate in Jakarta and Cyprus to help with his travel expenses)
Grimsby Town Disability Supports Club (to help with transport to away matches) Portage (which supports family with severely disabled children under 5 years)
Grimsby Food Kitchen
Fresh Start Meals

Organisations are invited to talk to the group about their work and elaborate on their requirements. Some recipients have received more than one donation if circumstances or needs change, and the group has received many letters of thanks from grateful recipients.

The money raised from the events goes to the good causes, as the ladies raise money for the running of the club separately, between themselves, at social get togethers.

The Ladybirds are a very friendly group and would welcome like minded new members to help to continue their fund-raising efforts to provide this extra service for this community.
