Christmas, one of the biggest events in the Christian calendar, is almost upon us and the first Sunday of advent has taken place; the season of giving has arrived.<\/p>\n<p>In the midst of the frantic preparations and rushed visits to family and friends we are urged to remember those who have nothing and no-one to share the festive season with. Each time we do this we volunteer, usually as unobtrusively as possible.<\/p>\n<p>This campaign is our opportunity to shout about the different aspects of volunteering and the best practice that we would recommend in order to ensure that volunteers are safe and supported during their time with organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Each day of the week we will be theming our posts around a different topic; Monday\u2019s are the benefits of volunteering, Tuesday\u2019s are Volunteer Management best practice, Wednesday\u2019s are volunteer opportunities, Thursday\u2019s are suggested ways to volunteer, Friday\u2019s are rewarding and recognising your volunteers, Saturday\u2019s are looking back over the successes of 2015 and Sunday\u2019s are looking forward to 2016.<\/p>\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-10567\" data-postid=\"10567\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-10567 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The season of giving is here.
