The Big lottery have awarded funding to Friendship at Homes project, \u201cYoung at Heart\u201d which will help Friendship at Home to further grow and develop<\/p>\n
This Project is a continuation and development of our overall scheme to reduce isolation and loneliness and improve health and wellbeing of older people in \u00a0N E Lincs.\u00a0 This Project will expand and compliment the current services including a Befriending Service by increasing our volunteer base of befrienders and rolling out a telephone befriending service for those who are housebound and not ready for visitors. We will also continue to offer social and exercise activities to reduce isolation and encourage activity and wellbeing.<\/p>\n
Friendship at Home has been working in North East Lincolnshire since September 2006 to help reduce the isolation and loneliness which older people face.\u00a0 \u00a0The project was previously funded by Help the Aged and then a 5 year grant from the Big Lottery Reaching Communities fund until June 2015.<\/p>\n
Julie Rigby the Manager said, \u201cwe are delighted to receive this grant from the Big Lottery fund to develop activities and services for older people over the next five years:\u00a0 The project will make a huge difference to older people in North East Lincolnshire.\u00a0 Our social and exercise groups are a lifeline for older people and really make a difference.\u00a0 Now we will be able to offer more opportunities, not only to social activities but also for our befriending and Independent Living service.<\/p>\n
For those interested in undertaking voluntary work with older people, the opportunities to gain new skills, new experiences, receive training, be part of a dedicated team and to feel you making a contribution to your community will be readily available.\u00a0 We know from experience the huge difference it can make to remain socially active within their community and how valuable the work of our volunteers is.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Big Lottery Fund supports the aspirations of people who want to make life better for their communities across the UK.\u00a0 The Big Lottery are responsible for giving out 40% of the money raised by the National Lottery for good causes and invest over \u00a3650 million a year in projects big and small in health, education, environment and charitable purposes.<\/p>\n
Since June 2004 The Big Lottery has awarded over \u00a38 billion\u00a0to projects that make a difference to people and communities in need, from early year\u2019s intervention to commemorative travel funding for World War Two veterans.<\/p>\n
Since the National Lottery began in 1994, \u00a333 billion has been raised and more than 450,000 grants awarded.<\/p>\n
