{"id":10356,"date":"2015-10-21T10:13:57","date_gmt":"2015-10-21T09:13:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/?p=10356"},"modified":"2015-10-21T10:13:57","modified_gmt":"2015-10-21T09:13:57","slug":"health-and-wellbeing-turning-the-curve-seminars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/2015\/10\/health-and-wellbeing-turning-the-curve-seminars\/","title":{"rendered":"HEALTH AND WELLBEING \u201cTURNING THE CURVE\u201d SEMINARS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>North East Lincolnshire\u2019s Public Health team is hosting a series of interactive seminars for all those stakeholders who contribute to or influence the health and wellbeing of our\u00a0 local population.<\/p>\n<p>Using an outcome based accountability approach, these seminars will cover a range of interesting topics.\u00a0 All topics will\u00a0 cover significant, ongoing and persistent health issues for North East Lincolnshire, which require partners to work together and implement new and innovative approaches.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Seminar 1: Stopping young people from smoking<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Date: Monday 2<sup>nd<\/sup> November 2015<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Venue: Bremerhaven Room, Grimsby Town Hall<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first of these sessions is looking at how we stop young people from smoking. <a href=\"http:\/\/vanel.org.uk\/va\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Stopping-smoking-amongst-young-people-seminar-agenda-2.docx\">The agenda for the session is attached<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In North East Lincolnshire, although smoking prevalence amongst young people is on the decline (as per the national trend), we consistently score worse than the national and regional average, with large inequalities both in the most deprived wards and amongst vulnerable children, such as looked after children, those children excluded from school and those in contact with the youth offending system.<\/p>\n<p>This seminar will provide local stakeholders with a real opportunity to work together to\u00a0 determine the reasoning behind these statistics and to identify the main barriers to stopping young people from smoking.
