WebClub<\/strong> started back in May 2011 and has been meeting approximately every two weeks ever since.<\/p>\n

Below is a chronology and archive of our 2011 and 2012 meetings.<\/p>\n

21 Nov<\/strong> \u2013 EventBrite, Disqus, image preparation and a good chunk of project troubleshooting for members
\n6 Nov<\/strong> \u2013 communication tools, discussions and emails. coding and homepage design.
\n23 Oct<\/strong> \u2013 in-depth look at design techniques using WordPress themes. \u201cUnder the bonnet\u201d look at Themes and how they work.
\n9 Oct<\/strong> \u2013 focus again on design work and troubleshooting of member websites.
\n26 Sept<\/strong> \u2013 Facebook. social media discussions. General web design interaction & project troubleshooting.
\n11 Sept<\/strong> \u2013 general troubleshooting of member websites
\n14 August<\/strong> \u2013 a connected web\u00a0 \u2013 looking at using online tools to connect everything together (plus member project troubleshooting)
\n31 July<\/strong> \u2013 Mailchimp, copying and reinstalling WordPress, project troubleshooting
\n25 June<\/strong> \u2013 Troubleshooting session.\u00a0 We investigated (and solved) a range of issues with member website projects.
\n13 June<\/strong> \u2013 Websites and the new Cookie law session.
\n22 May<\/strong> \u2013 Design inspiration session.\u00a0 Reviewing good and bad design with lots of inspiration. Looking at key components of design \u2013 layout, colour, fonts, images, overall appearance etc. Looking at tools and approaches and ways of ensuring our websites are well designed.
\n9 May<\/strong> \u2013 Theme: Security of websites \u2013 protecting websites against spam, hacking and attack. Protecting data securely and dealing with data protection.\u00a0 Dealing with user access and vulnerabilities. Backups.\u00a0 We\u2019ll focus on practical application within WordPress, but the subject will be applicable to all websites.
\n24 Apr<\/strong> \u2013 Coding and Programming session followed by normal discussions around group projects and troubleshooting.
\n11 Apr<\/strong> \u2013 new attendees so we covered basics of web development, spend time on troubleshooting our projects and looked in more depth at graphics, images and preparing logos and backgrounds.
\n20 Mar<\/strong> \u2013 general project troubleshooting, overview of WordPress for a new member, tutorials around making the most of WordPress custom post types
\n7 Mar<\/strong> \u2013 review and troubleshooting our projects, minimum viable product discussion, focus on wordpress layouts
\n23 Feb<\/strong> \u2013 google analytics, project troubleshooting, overview of hosting admin control panels
\n7 Feb<\/strong> \u2013 project troubleshooting mostly
\n24 Jan<\/strong> \u2013 back to basics discussion on web development and walthroughs of WordPress projects.
\n10 Jan<\/strong> \u2013 new format meeting for 2012 with focus on web development projects as case studies. tips & troubleshooting session too.<\/p>\n

\n30 Nov<\/strong> \u2013 another session looking closely at website design & tackling members questions
\n14 Nov<\/strong> \u2013 some introductory discussion for new members and a run through of the principles of graphically designing and laying out a website
\n17 Oct<\/strong> \u2013 user management techniques
\n5 Oct<\/strong> \u2013 handon session in IT suite on WordPress and Moonfruit
\n20 Sept<\/strong> \u2013 general discussion session around hosting and web construction techniques
\n5 Sept<\/strong> \u2013 a repeat of the admin control panel session from 15 Aug, but included some one to one WordPress tuition for the attendees
\n15 Aug<\/strong> \u2013 detailed walkthrough of buying domains and hostings and understanding hosting admin control panels
\n2 Aug<\/strong> \u2013 a hands on workshop trying out WordPress
\n18 July<\/strong> \u2013 social media tools and integrating them with websites, troubleshooting Q&A
\n4 July<\/strong> \u2013 revisited basic html, review of many basic tools and techniques for getting a website up and running quickly
\n27 June<\/strong> \u2013 sessions on preparing and using images in websites + measuring visitors and using analytics
\n6 June<\/strong> \u2013 anatomy of a website in detail, webtools, troubleshooting Q&A session, basics of HTML
\n23 May<\/strong> \u2013 introductory session, planning WebClub, project managing a web project, understanding the basic components of a website, anatomy of a website, common tools and techniques, design issues checklist<\/p>\n\n
