\"atWebclub\"Roughly every two weeks, VANEL holds a WebClub<\/strong> meeting at which attendees are supported, encouraged and inspired to develop, redevelop or evolve websites for their voluntary or community groups.\u00a0 For anyone trying to work with websites or online technologies to support and develop their organisation, this WebClub provides affordable, practical technical support.<\/p>\n

WebClub costs just \u00a330per year (per person, not per organisation).\u00a0 For that you can attend up to 20 support sessions per year, access resources and call upon expert web support from Karl Elliott who runs WebClub and our IT Supporters Network initiatives.<\/p>\n

What does WebClub cover?<\/h2>\n

WebClub is not<\/em> a training programme. I assume people will attend when they can make it or when they’re interested in a topic on offer for that session.<\/p>\n

So WebClub sessions offer:<\/p>\n

Inspiration<\/strong> and Ideas<\/strong> to help your creativity flow
\nIntroduction and reviews of useful (and often free) tools<\/strong>
\nDiscussion around, demonstration and training of techniques<\/strong>
\nStep by step tutorials<\/strong> on common web development tasks
\ntroubleshooting<\/strong> of problems and issues members might be having
\ncritical friend<\/strong> – we all help each other to work through our projects
\nresources<\/strong> – both physical (laptops, magazines etc) and signposting (where to find help you might need)<\/p>\n

And our scope includes:<\/p>\n

options for getting an online presence (it’s not all just build a website)
\ntechnicalities of hosting and building websites
\nWordPress (most of our members use WordPress)
\nlayout, user interface and graphical design
\ncontent and structure of your websites
\nmaintaining and supporting websites
\ndesigning for purpose – making your site meet your visitors needs
\nmanaging the development or redevelopment of a website
\nsocial media use
\nuse of the internet and online tools, resources and services to make your organisation more effective
\nand probably more besides…<\/em><\/p>\n
