Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire (VANEL) has teamed up with North East Lincolnshire County Council, and Member organisation, Capacity Buildings Ltd, to transform a tired and disused old beach hut in Cleethorpes, into a place that can be enjoyed by the community. The refurbishment comes following a \u00a31,500 donation from the Tribune Trust. Beach hut #9 officially opened on 16th<\/sup> September 2016, and has been refurbished for the use of disadvantaged people, schools, community groups and organisations, and is free to use. The beach hut, which is available between the hours of 9:30am and 3:30pm Monday to Thursday, will provide a safe place for families suffering from the effects of violence and antisocial behaviour in their communities, allowing them to get the respite that they need. The hut will also be an excellent base for school children to use and enjoy as they learn about our local heritage and the environment. The hut is equipped with learning material and sports equipment such as volleyball nets, badminton kits, cricket sets and a parachute. <\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>t is not equipped with heating or electricity, so make sure that you dress appropriately, particularly during the colder months. The nearest toilets are situated a short walk away near the Boating Lake and are suitable for disabled users. The beach hut can comfortably seat up to 8 people inside and an additional 8 on the veranda. The beach hut’s kitchenette is equipped with cold running water which is suitable for drinking. Nearby, there is also a locally run caf\u00e9 serving hot and cold drinks, ice-creams and other refreshments. There is also another caf\u00e9 situated at the nearby Discovery Centre, and a vast number of fast food outlets available at Meridian Parkway such as MacDonald\u2019s, KFC,\u00a0 Subway and Tacobell. Further up, back towards the Pier, there are an array of pubs, clubs and restaurants that you can visit during your day at the seaside. Close by is the Cleethorpes Light Railway and the Leisure Centre, perfect for you to visit on those days when it is too cold to go for a paddle. Head over to Kings Road opposite the Boating Lake and finish your day with a game of bowling or by watching a film at Parkway Cinema.
