Volunteering during the coronavirus emergency

If you are wanting to help during the ongoing health emergency then there are plenty of ways.  We’ll share some helpful links on this page when we can.

Firstly please bear in mind that all the volunteering roles that are normally available locally in North East Lincolnshire have been turned on their heads. Organisations are not filling volunteer roles at the moment in the same ways (or even at all).  Currently the Volunteer Centre at VANEL is not making volunteering referrals into organisations locally so please don’t contact us for opportunities as before.

Instead please look at whether there are other routes to take.

Firstly read this simple guide (from NCVO) on “How can you help”

Here is how you get involved with NHS Volunteer Responders to sign up officially to help.

Locally individuals can get in touch with the Blue Lights Brigade who are coordinating volunteers.

There are a number of local support groups started up under the Mutual Aid UK banner. Currently we know of:
Covid angels – grimsby and cleethorpes
Grimsby and Cleethorpes Covid-19 mutual aid
Coronavirus community support Grimsby & Clee
Healing Area Coronavirus Community Support
If you are in a relevant area then contact the groups direct.

If your area has a Neighbourhood Watch group then contact Glyn about how you can get involved.

If local charities and groups start seeking very specific volunteer roles then we will start promoting these here. (If you need to tell us about your opportunities then please contact Liz).
