It often gets overlooked – all of your Trustees and committee members are actually volunteers.
As a charity or voluntary organisation you may well have a point of contact for your volunteers, provide them with support and development skills, praise and acknowledge them, have volunteering policies and approaches and possibly even have achieved VANEL’s Supporting Volunteers Award (SVA) to demonstrate your commitment to your volunteers. How much of this can your board and organisation say you provide to those volunteers who sit around the table to steer and lead the organisation?
VANEL are introducing a variation of the SVA award specifically for boards and committees during 2017. SVAg (g for governance) helps you review, improve and celebrate your volunteer supporting work specifically with your board of trustees.
This training session is both an overview and introduction to SVAg itself, but also explores the issues, concepts, problems and advantages to remembering to think about your trustees as volunteers too.
Use the session as a simple, interesting new way of looking at your own board or as a stepping some to getting SVAg accreditation for your committee.
Existing trustees and committee members can attend. Or it’s also relevant to managers or those supporting their board at management or administrative level.
Normally held at VANEL offices, Grimsby
£10 per attendee for Member/Friend organisations (or £15 for non-members)
