A charity five-aside Tournament is taking place next week at the Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education on Thursday 8th December from 9am until 1pm in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. Competing in the tournament will be some of the VANEL and IGNITE team. Show your support for our staff and the Teenage Cancer Trust by joining us on the day and making a donation to this worthy cause. Sky High: Fundraising Event for Grimsby Gynaecological Ward to Buy Memory Boxes For Bereaved Parents
A young mother from Grimsby who delivered a sleeping baby is organising a fundraising helium balloon release to raise money for the Laurel Ward at Grimsby’s Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, to buy Memory Boxes for bereaved parents. The mass balloon release ‘Sky High’, will take place at the Linden Homes Club, Grimsby, on Wednesday 7th December 2016 from 6pm until 9pm. The event is open to everyone and will give families the opportunity to commemorate a child who has been lost during pregnancy or after birth. VANEL, in partnership with Anglian Water, will be holding a World Toilet Day (WTD) event on Saturday 19th November 2016 at People’s Park. The event aims to increase awareness of the global sanitation crisis affecting 2.4 billion people worldwide, and will serve as the launchpad of the O2 funded IGNITE project “Explorabubble”. Winter Wonderland is returning to Cleethorpes Meridian Showground for four days this December and promises to be even more magical than last year. The National Youth Agency (NYA) in partnership with O2 Think Big is launching an exciting programme aimed at young people aged between 17 and 25-years-old in the UK. The Environment Now (TEN) will fund young people up to £10,000 to use digital technology to find innovative solutions to pressing environmental issues. On Tuesday 29th November 2016, Alex from O2 Think Big and Heather from NYA will be heading to Grimsby’s YMCA from 1pm until 3pm to hold a Thinkspiration workshop with young people to discuss/help you come up with an idea. On Friday 30th September 2016, VANEL’s IGNITE team held their first ever Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The event, which was lead by 18-year-old IGNITE Project Leader, Shona O’Reilly, was hugely successful, raising nearly £300 for the charity.
