Keep Thursday 6th April free as ‘Mini’ WE Day is returning to North East Lincolnshire for its third consecutive year. This years event “Social Action Club 2017” is being organised by founder of Counting Hope and Diana Award holder, Andy Green. The event is open to all school’s within Yorkshire and Humber, and is free to attend.
A heartwarming message from IGNITE Project Leader and Samaritans’ Volunteer Holly Almond. Holly is working with IGNITE to raise funds to redesign the Grimsby branch of the Samaritans. Holly wants to make the building a more uplifting place for service users and volunteers to visit, and make it friendly for disabled people.
We are pleased to report 18-year-old social action campaigner and friend of VANEL, Molly Dixon, has been awarded an Associate Fellowship with The Royal Commonwealth Society. On Monday 6th February, VANEL’s IGNITE team showcased the work we have been doing with young people at the launch of a Resilience and Relationships event at Havelock school. The event, which was organised by the R&R team in partnership with NEL council.

VANEL’s IGNITE team recently gave their support to a bereaved young mother from Grimsby as she organised a special balloon release event in honour of babies “who are in the sky”. Twenty-year-old Uniformed Services student and mother of one, Amy Brown organised a fundraising a fundraising event called ‘Sky High’ at the Linden Homes Club last week to raise money for the Laurel Ward to purchase memory boxes for bereaved parents.
