Date for your diary! Charitie Robinson’s ‘Battle of the Bands’ event will take place on Friday 31st March 2017 at Moon on the Water. So far we have eight acts participating in the fundraising event and talent competition. Tickets on sale now from Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire.

Mini WE Day is back for its third consecutive year! This years event ‘Social Action Club’ aims to motivate and empower young people to come up with innovative solutions to social issues, and equip them with the tools they need in order to make a difference. This years Mini WE Day event will take place on Thursday 6th April 2017 at the Grimsby Institute. Next month VANEL are hosting a funding surgery with Ros Aitchison from Big Lottery. The funding surgery will take place on Thursday 30th March 2017. Community groups wishing to apply to Big Lottery’s Reaching Communities fund are encouraged to book an appointment with Ros at the funding surgery. Places are going fast and booking is essential. Shoreline’s Osbourne Street Office is permanently closing at the end of next month. As a result of the closure, they are in receipt of, but no longer have any need for, their office furniture. Rather than sell this privately, they would like to offer it to local charities in exchange for a donation to their Charity of the year fund. Read on for full details.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has launched a set of new proposals to improve how they deliver patient and public involvement within the organisation. NICE are keen to hear what people think of them before they’re finalised early next year. Deadline for comments 28th February 2017.

On Friday 17th February, Radio presenter and transgender icon Stephanie Hirst delivered a guest talk at Franklin Colleges second pride event. Stephanie spoke to students, teachers and members of the public about her journey to self acceptance and the importance of celebrating people’s differences.
