Many voluntary and community groups need to venture online with a new website but don’t understand the basics of how a website works or how one can be put together.
To tackle this we run a free briefing/workshop at regular intervals to introduce people to the concepts behind websites.
“Cooking up a website”
will help those with little or no understanding of website technology to get to grips with the basics. The session tries to answer questions such as:
what ingredients does a website need ?
how much does a website cost ?
how long will it take to build a website ?
who needs to be involved ?
can I get a volunteer to build it ?
who should I approach?
what are html, css, php ? should I care ?
will someone do it all for me?
Should we bother ?
what else do I need to know ?
Sessions are free (to staff & volunteers of charities, social enterprises, voluntary or community groups) and usually last 1.5-2 hours.
The session assume attendees know very little (if anything) about websites, and the idea is to explain practical knowledge in a friendly, easy manner that won’t blind you with science! The aim is to help groups (and the individuals supporting the groups) to take their first steps towards building or improving websites and to know what their next questions will be…
Any questions about websites? This session should be for you.
