Beach Hut No 9 is a simple brick built chalet so there are limited facilities, so here’s what you can expect:

There is no heating or electricity so you’ll need to ensure you dress appropriately, particularly during colder months.

The nearest toilets are a short walk away near the Boating Lake but they are also suitable for disabled users.

The Beach Hut can easily accommodate 8 people inside with another 8 on the veranda and of course there is plenty of space outside on the grassed area!

There is of course no wifi, but normally the 4g phone signal in the area is pretty good.

The kitchenette in the Beach Hut is equipped with cold running water which is suitable for drinking. A few yards away is a locally run cafe serving hot and cold drinks, ice-creams, snacks and other refreshments (subject to their opening times and arrangements).

Further catering and eating places are nearby at the Boating Lake, at th Discovery Centre and at Meridian Parkway, as well as many other pubs and cafes and restaurants. There of course are all the other tourist facilities locally - the light railway, cinema, shops, bowling, leisure centre, walking, beach and so on.

The hut is also equipped with learning material and sports equipment such as volleyball nets, badminton kits, cricket sets and a parachute.

The Beach Hut is also the base for our Bygone Beachcombers project and ‘museum’. This Heritage Lottery funded project took place during 2017 and we researched beach and seaside holidays in Cleethorpes. There is a website at www.bygonebeachcombers.org.uk but in the beach hut there are also a range of educational folders, a folder of heritage postcards, a display wall of heritage posters, a memorabilia display cabinet and historic costumes for dressing up! (note that not all of these heritage items are always in place at the Beach Hut as they may be ‘out and about’. Please ask in advance if you are especially interested).

Don’t forget to sign the visitor book when you’ve finished and leave your comments for the next people. Please also try and leave the beach hut in a good condition and as you found it.
