Beach Hut No. 9

Beach Hut No.9

Marine Embankment, Cleethorpes

Beach Hut No. 9 is one of nearly 50 brick beach 'chalets' on Marine Embankment in Cleethorpes in a SSSI designated area. Built in the 1950s it is leased by Capacity Buildings Ltd who, through help from volunteers and with a grant from Tribune Trust, renovated the tired and dilapidated chalet during 2016 to relaunch it as a community focused location in spring 2017.

The Beach Hut is managed by Capacity Buildings Ltd in partnership with VANEL and the North East Lincolnshire Council Safer and Stronger Communities Team. During 2018 there were over 30 bookings catering for over 300 people from a wide range of schools, individuals, charities, community projects and public bodies who visited and used the Beach Hut for events, activities, fundraisers and simply for 'time out'.

A grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to Capacity Buildings Ltd in 2016 made a project researching the history of the area possible, and this "Bygone Beachcombers" project now has an online website as well as using the Beach Hut as a base or 'museum' for the heritage research.

Public events are often held at the Beach Hut and are promoted through VANEL and NELC communication channels.

Beach Hut No.9 is now open for the 2019 spring/summer/autumn season.

Lead contact for Beach Hut No.9 is Steven Lynn at VANEL.
